I've managed 513 words but keep getting interrupted so I'm giving it up as a bad job tonight! Why is it scenes you think are gonna be short and easy to write evolve beyond recognition? And take double the amount of words???

Mmm. Because they are interesting, so you want to do your best for them? I always think it's lovely when that happens - it's like a baby growing inside you. And you can always cut and trim it later (er, unlike a baby...)
I agree Jan it is lovely! I'm not one for a strict outline - too disciplined for me! But the scene I'm doing I thought would take a couple of pages, I feel like I've been writing it for ages and the hero's not even appeared yet!!!
