Although - due to the draw of the bands and the beer tent - there was a lot of the expected age range there, there were also an equally large number of families, and ages ranged from the very young to those in the later years of life. And it looked like everyone was having fun so well done to the organisers I know it takes a lot of hard work to do these things!
It was my youngests last day at pre-school on Friday and his sports day and yes I did blub like a baby. After being quite involved with the pre-school for the last 3 or 4 years it really felt like the end of an era. If I hadn't been on the committee I would never have known what a hard job both staff and the (voluntary) committee do. It isn't just a case of turning up to play, a lot of hard work goes into each and every session to ensure that each child is given the best care possible for them.
I know I'll see most of the staff again as many have children at the school - hey I live in a relatively small village it's not a case of strangers here! - but it still felt very sad to me. Thankfully I wasn't the only one blubbing, staff and other parents (OK mum's) were too, just goes to show how much those early years count. And how quickly they go passed!
Okay now onto writing. I'm coming along with A Fair Cop. Hero and heroine have met - though they don't know this yet! I've sketched out the main points, the physical journey is mostly there, the emotional one is getting there. I keep my pad handy and jot down ideas and how they fit in as they come to me. I'm finding as I drift off to sleep that I realise how to solve a plot problem - I then just hope I can remember it in the morning! Does anyone else have escaping ideas and ways of stopping them escape?
Well I've managed to fit in 400 words this afternoon and so I'm going to tackle the ironing now, then maybe a game with the children - who are being remarkably good at the moment...

Enjoy the long summer holidays with the kids, Lori. Hopefully, the sun will come out soon.
The book arrived today, thank you very much! It looks absolutely fab and I'm really looking forward to reading it. Will get back to you when I've finished it, might be a few weeks though as things are a bit hectic at the moment.
Thanks again!
Glad it arrived safely Maddie and I really hope you enjoy it.
The hols are great already and my daughter especially seems much more relaxed! I don't know if I'll be saying the same in six weeks time though!:D
